We network in this initiative mostly in with St Clements Support Group and some of those we help are referred to us by CAB, The Bridge, Brighter Futures, Social Services and Social Security.
This is a once a month project which sees around 60 individual families and folk receive a good supply of items to help them get by. It also gives us an opportunity to meet and chat a little to those who we are here to help. Some have been on our list for some time and some just come on for a short while just to help them get back on their feetHousehold Goods Distribution
This is a collection and delivery service of quality items of donated furniture to individuals and families on low incomes and particularly helpful to those wishing to re- house after The Shelter, Women's Refuge and La Moye Prison.
The van is driven and manned by volunteers who work hard to provide this much needed service and provides our drivers and loaders with an opportunity to spend time out of town, meeting and talking to many different people from various backgrounds along the way. In addition, this gives our volunteers focus and a way of getting back into the workplace, especially when seeking and applying for paid employment. We generally utilise the van a couple of mornings per week, which usually coincides with an essential cup of tea somewhere along the road!
